Our Journalism
Independent Reporting. Public Accountability. Trusted Information.
The Center for Global Integrity (CGI) is building a pan-African journalism network committed to independent, accurate, and public-interest reporting. Our journalism serves communities across Africa and African diaspora audiences, providing credible information that strengthens transparency, accountability, and informed public participation.
Investigative Journalism & Accountability
CGI investigates matters of significant public interest, including corruption, abuse of power, governance, human rights, financial wrongdoing, and the conduct of public and private institutions.
Through rigorous verification, cross-border collaboration, and responsible investigative methods, we aim to produce reporting that exposes wrongdoing, examines systemic failures, and holds powerful institutions accountable.
AI Accountability & Technology Reporting
Artificial intelligence is reshaping economies, workplaces, public services, and information systems. CGI examines the opportunities, risks, and consequences of these technologies, with particular attention to their impact on African communities.
Our reporting will investigate AI deployments, algorithmic bias, labor-market disruption, digital rights, data protection, corporate responsibility, and government use of automated decision-making systems.
Through the AfroTruth AI Accountability & Investigative Journalism Initiative and related programs, CGI aims to combine investigative reporting, accessible explainers, and public dialogue to strengthen transparency and accountability in the use of emerging technologies.
Multilingual Journalism Across Africa
CGI is developing journalism in major African and international languages spoken across the continent, including Arabic, English, French, Hausa, Kinyarwanda, Kirundi, Ndebele, Portuguese, Shona, Somali, Swahili, Xhosa, and Zulu.
Our multilingual approach seeks to make credible information accessible to audiences often underserved by mainstream news media, while respecting linguistic diversity and local contexts.
Multimedia Reporting & Public Engagement
CGI's journalism will be distributed through digital platforms, radio, podcasts, video, social media, and community partnerships.
We aim to connect journalists and audiences through interviews, public discussions, town halls, and accessible explanatory reporting that encourages informed civic participation.
Fact-Checking & Countering Disinformation
CGI is committed to verifying claims, investigating misleading narratives, and strengthening public understanding of how information is produced and circulated.
Our work will combine fact-checking, media literacy, and evidence-based reporting to help audiences distinguish reliable information from false or manipulated content.
Editorial Standards & Independence
Accuracy, fairness, transparency, verification, and editorial independence are fundamental to CGI's journalism.
Our editorial decisions will be guided by the public interest, professional ethics, and rigorous reporting standards—not by political, commercial, or other external interests.
We are committed to protecting journalistic sources, correcting errors transparently, and ensuring that our reporting is responsible, credible, and accountable to the communities we serve.
