Board Governance
CGI is governed by a Board of Directors responsible for strategic oversight, institutional accountability, financial stewardship, and safeguarding the organization's public-interest journalism mission. The Board's governance structure includes designated leadership and oversight roles, including the Chair, Treasurer, and Secretary. CGI provides governance information to relevant regulatory authorities and authorized institutional partners as required.
Editorial Independence
Editorial independence is a foundational principle of CGI. The organization is committed to ensuring that editorial decisions are guided by accuracy, fairness, verification, professional ethics, and the public interest. CGI's governance framework is intended to protect journalistic decision-making from inappropriate political, commercial, governmental, or other external influence.
Financial Accountability & Institutional Integrity
CGI is committed to responsible financial management, transparent grant administration, conflict-of-interest safeguards, and compliance with applicable nonprofit governance requirements. The organization works to establish strong internal controls and accountable management practices that protect its institutional integrity and the confidence of its supporters.
Our Commitment
CGI seeks to build a trusted, independent journalism institution serving communities across Africa and the African diaspora. We believe that credible journalism depends not only on rigorous reporting but also on ethical leadership, sound governance, and institutional accountability.
